We had such a fun weekend celebrating two of our dear friends Katie and Brett tying the knot. And it couldn't have been a more gorgeous setting. Vail, Colorado...there is truly nothing like it, especially in the summer. I love snowboarding and the winters are wonderful, but summer in the mountains is just magic. It really feels like a world away. I wish we could have stayed up there longer! But we drove up early Saturday morning, and headed home in major traffic on Sunday afternoon.
Nick and I were able to attend the wedding together, without Reese, thanks to a lovely new babysitter we found who lives in Vail. Reese and her hit it off right away, so I didn't feel weird about leaving her at all. It was fun to get dressed up!
We rode the gondola up to mid-Vail, and walked a short distance to the venue where the ceremony and reception took place. I was joking with my friend who snapped this picture that this was the only good picture Nick and I will take together this year.
After a beautiful ceremony outside, we headed in for the reception. The venue had breathtaking views and beautiful decor - lots of white candles and white flowers. We had a great time seeing old friends and drinking lots of prosecco and Moscow mules.
There was even an oxygen bar at the reception. I had never tried it before, but apparently taking oxygen helps at altitude with all sorts of ailments - headaches, nausea, vertigo, etc. I have to say it was pretty hilarious seeing everyone all decked out with oxygen tubes up their nose. But when in Rome...
The rest of the weekend was a blast. We saw our good friends who came in all the way from Germany and got to meet their sweet little peanut. This is Reese meeting her for the first time. They eventually came to love each other! Reese was so sweet with her, always making sure she had her toys and blankie, and even sharing her beloved Elmo doll with her. It was super cute.
Nothing like baby besties! Hope you had a beautiful weekend as well! I'm sharing one of our go-to weeknight dinner recipes this week...in case you were worried I only subsist on desserts alone (judging from my recent posts, that would be a fair assumption!)
