Well hello there! How was your week? It was a long and rainy one here (again), it is really getting ridiculous! And more rain everyday in the extended forecast, boo. So I am going to recap last weekend when it was sunny for about 4 hours on Sunday. Long enough for us to hit the zoo with Nick's cousin Katie and her little boy Easton who came to visit us from Iowa. We had such a blast together. Easton and Reese are about 6 month apart, so they loved each other and were inseparable the whole time!
We started the weekend with a trip to Chop Shop for dinner. We love going to Chop Shop - great people, great food, quick and easy. Everyone leaves happy. They have a great chef-driven menu and a healthy kids menu as well (no fried weirdness or frozen nuggets). Reese loves the butternut squash puree, noodles with peas, and fresh fruit on the side. The adults enjoy the new flatiron steak with cherry tomatoes and spinach, and chimichurri sauce on the side for dipping. Delicious! I also enjoyed a Moscow mule - seriously the best mule around!
I think every picture I have of these two is blurry. They did not stop moving for one second while they were together. They loved bouncing on the bouncy horse and the yoga ball in the basement, dancing to their favorite kid songs on the iPad, and throwing the ball for Avery. It was so much fun, but two toddlers - whoa. I am not sure who was more exhausted by Monday, us or the kids.
They were adorable together at the zoo. Easton was so sweet to Reese and was always making her laugh. We loved seeing the Asian elephants and the monkey island. The last time I brought Reese to the zoo was last fall, when she wasn't quite yet walking. So this was much more fun, and I think she really understood looking at the animals and even trying to say their names.
We filled the rest of the weekend with a trip to Target, Jamba Juice, a trip to the indoor playground at the Rec Center when it was raining, and another dinner out. Action packed! We loved having family in town and made us wish we were all closer to one another. Being a Colorado transplant is hard sometimes!
We can't wait to go back to the Zoo again this summer. When it is sunny. My hope for the long weekend this weekend is to just chill and relax, see some friends, and maybe get started on my container garden for our deck. I want to do tomatoes, herbs, kale and maybe some peppers if I can fit them all in? Since it is raining, maybe my garden stands a chance at surviving and not getting fried right away!
What are your plans for the holiday weekend? Hope it is nice and sunny where you are!
